Maria Liaskos

Dr Maria Kaparakis-Liaskos is an inaugural veski Inspiring Women Fellow, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Host-pathogen interactions laboratory at La Trobe University. Dr Liaskos' primary research interests aim to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions with particular focus on Helicobacter pylori and bacterial membrane vesicles. Dr Liaskos obtained her PhD in Bacterial Pathogenesis from The University of Melbourne, undertook postdoctoral studies at Monash University and then established a research group at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research. In 2017, Maria moved to La Trobe University where she is also the Deputy Director of the La Trobe Research Centre for Extracellular Vesicles.
